A Message from the Officers of the PACC
It is with great sadness and disappointment that the Polish American Citizens Club of Albany (“Club” or “PACC”) must acknowledge that our 2021 Financial Secretary, Kenneth Frodyma, was arrested on Thursday, May 5th, 2022, by the Albany Police Department (“APD”). Mr. Frodyma is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of Club funds over a 2-year period. The arrest was a result of a nearly 5-month long investigation. APD was contacted by Club Officers after cash funds were found missing from the Club and Citizens Bank where the Club had 4 accounts.
Mr. Frodyma joined the Club in 2002 and was elected first as Club Treasurer in 2017 and most recently, as Club Financial Secretary in 2021. Mr. Frodyma also owned and operated KMF Tax Service in Feura Bush and provided services as a tax preparer.
This is the darkest and worst situation our club has ever experienced in our 91-year history. The Club’s Bank accounts were emptied by Mr. Frodyma, including one that held funds for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Club has held annual fundraisers for St. Jude for the past 25 years, raising over $1.5 million for the children. The Club plans on continuing its dedication to St. Jude, beginning with an event scheduled for Saturday, September 10, 2022.
As a result of the theft, the Club offered members the option of purchasing promissory notes to be repaid within 2 years and has held numerous fundraising events such as Chowder Day, Fish Fry Fridays, and basket raffles. These combined efforts, along with the patronage of our members, have allowed the Club to continue to operate over the past months and repay most past-due vendors. We expect the remaining vendors will be paid within the next few months.
The Club would like to thank our vendors for their understanding and patience during these troubled times.
The Board of Directors and Officers would also like to thank our over 1,000-strong combined membership for their understanding, patience, and support during these troubling times. Our hope is to move forward and to make our club successful and progressive again.
About 8 years ago we started mailing annual dues reminders as a courtesy to our members. Approximately 225 reminders were mailed for 2022 before we became aware of our financial loss, which is still under investigation. In an effort to save money, we will not be mailing the remaining reminders (nearly 600) and are extending the grace period for payment until April 30, 2022. Dues can be paid at the club bar, or you may mail a check payable to PACC to Polish American Citizens Club of Albany, 110 Commerce Ave., Albany, NY 12206.
Auxiliary dues ($20) can be remitted in the same manner. Please make checks payable to PACC Auxiliary.
Please pass this information on to any members you know who may not receive our emails or other notices. Thank you for continuing to support your club!
As many of you know, the company that supplied our membership cards has gone out of business. We're still in the process of purchasing a new system from another company that provides cards and readers. While we're working on that, your 2021 cards are still valid and will work in the card readers at the doors. When we update our system and have new cards available we will share the information via Facebook, our website, and email.
